New England Equal Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Triumph Against Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
New England equaled their best victory streak from the Tom Brady period as they beat division rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win extends the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields scoring a short rushing score to finish the Jets' opening drive
But the home team responded in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Justin Fields connected with Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the victory
